Solar panel removal and reinstall for roof replacement in Pasco County

Getting a new roof in Pasco with solar on it? The panels have to come off and go back on under their own permit, by a contractor licensed for solar. We do that work with our own crew, pull the Pasco permit, put every roof attachment on new, and hand you a photo report when the system is back online.

Permit typeSeparate from the roofing permit

Pasco requires both a building permit and an electrical permit for solar work, filed through PascoGateway (Accela). Reroofs need their own building permit with product approval numbers for the roofing materials.

Cities with their own officesCheck your address first

New Port Richey, Port Richey, Dade City and Zephyrhills run their own building departments. Wesley Chapel, Land O' Lakes, Trinity, Odessa, Hudson and Holiday are unincorporated and go through PascoGateway.

Good to knowTiming

Simple residential plan reviews in Pasco typically take one to two weeks, so we file the solar permit the same week your roofing contract is signed.

Pasco's reroof inspections check underlayment, attachment and wind resistance before the roof is signed off. We don't put a single attachment back until that inspection has passed. Permit requirements change; we confirm the current checklist with the issuing office on every job.

The sequence

How it runs alongside your Pasco roofer

Permit filed, panels detached

We file the solar permit as soon as your roofing contract is signed, then remove panels, wiring and racking the day before or morning of tear-off. Everything is labeled and staged.

Roof goes on and passes inspection

Your roofer works under their own permit. One scheduler on our side tracks the roof's final inspection with them and with you.

Reinstall, inspect, back online

All-new attachments and flashings, panels and wiring back, solar inspection passed, system tested and producing the same day. Photo report delivered.

Pasco questions

Frequently asked in Pasco County

Does Pasco County need two permits for a solar reinstall?

Pasco treats solar as both building and electrical work, so the solar reinstall is filed with both permit types through PascoGateway. We pull both. Your roofer's reroof permit is separate.

I'm in Wesley Chapel. County or city?

Wesley Chapel is unincorporated Pasco, so the permit goes through PascoGateway. Same for Land O' Lakes, Trinity and Odessa. New Port Richey, Dade City and Zephyrhills are cities with their own offices.

Can the inspection be done virtually in Pasco?

Pasco offers virtual inspections for some project types, but roofing isn't on that list, so expect an inspector on site for the roof. The solar inspection follows the roof's final.
